Atanas Kiryakov is a leading expert in semantic databases, author of multiple signature industry publications, including chapters from the widely acclaimed Handbook of Semantic Web Technologies.
Atanas is the founder and proud CEO of Ontotext. His history in semantics dates back to 1993 when he decided to split his interests between knowledge representation, jazz and poetry.
Eventually science won over art, and Atanas started working as a software engineer at Sirma, one of the three most successful Bulgarian software companies of all time. Completing his Master of Science degree in Computer Science at Sofia University in 1995, he soon became a member of Sirma’s management board.
Atanas founded Ontotext in 2000. The company started as an R&D lab within Sirma Group, but soon grew to be an independent worldwide leader in semantic technology.
In addition to further exploring success with Ontotext, Atanas’ boldest dreams include making sure his daughter doesn’t sneak into bed without brushing her teeth and helping his son navigate his ships in the tub without causing a flood.
Veska Davidova is an established business leader, a Master of Science in Engineering and Process Automation, a golf and tennis aficionado and a mother of two sons. And, yes, she’s our irreplaceable COO, taking care of administration, finance, HR, business planning and forecasting.

Veska has also been a management board member at Siemens Bulgaria and was in charge of the Healthcare and IT businesses within the regional Siemens branch. She has held various positions at Hewlett Packard, with core responsibilities of providing consultation in the financial services industry across the EMEA, localizing and formalizing core IT based concepts for the public sector, manufacturing and FSI.
Besides her invaluable skills and experience, Veska brings style and elegance in Ontotext’s work. Her not-so-secret passion is making her DIY garden ever more beautiful (which should probably be called a park, actually).

Once you’ve met Milena, you’ll surely know what makes her the powerhouse behind strategic marketing and portfolio management of Ontotext.
A bright lady with a PhD in Computer Science, Milena joined Ontotext in 2004. Her path started in the role of a developer, passed through project and product management and quickly led her to Head of the Web Mining Group. In this position, she was busy leading a team that tackled the application of research prototypes to large commercial systems.
But you see, Milena is a curious one, so she can never stop exploring new fields. That’s why today she is on to a new challenge as the Head of Marketing of Ontotext.
Besides semantics, Milena is fascinated by the way people interact, how children learn and how all of us connect with each other through verbal and written communication. For her a constant source of miracles is how technology supports and alters our behavior, engagement and social connections.
When she’s not pondering on topics like semantics and human communication, she’s busy running around with (and after) her three daughters, Alisa, Leda and Adela.
Ilian Uzunov joined us to strengthen Ontotext’s key position in the mainstream publishing industry, develop strategic partnerships and pursue business opportunities in EMEA.

He positioned Sirma Media among the major players in the fields of e-learning and modern presentation of cultural heritage in Bulgaria, accomplishing some of the most innovative and challenging nation-wide projects in these two domains.
Ilian is truly fond of finding new ways in which semantic technology can be harnessed for the sake of better and more efficient learning and teaching. After working for more than 15 years in the fields of publishing, education, e-learning, contemporary ways for management and presentation of cultural heritage, his enthusiasm is only understandable.
When Ilian is not supporting publishers in their digital transformation journey, he’s constantly looking for the road to his inner self with the help of his family and their constant pursuit of new sports and travel adventures.
