GraphDB Cloud: Reliable, Scalable and Ready-to-Use DBaaS

Are you a part of a small cognitive-technology oriented team in a big organization that needs low upfront and ongoing costs for a database? Do you own a start-up without a database infrastructure, which requires a reliable technology that scales up along with your business? Are you a corporate solution architect working to solve the challenges your enterprise faces when handling huge amounts of data and information? Do you want to create custom solutions to address your company’s specific data and information needs?

Here is Ontotext’s answer to these questions. Our GraphDB Cloud helps you outsource the management of your database and saves you time, expertise and costs by giving you a 24/7 reliable and scalable database-as-a-service (DBaaS).

GraphDB Cloud – DBaaS To Get You Started With Semantic Databases

GraphDB Cloud – the easy way to introduce you to a semantic database like our signature GraphDB product – is a ready-to-use outset of your journey to manage your data and turn information into insights. The automated tasks in GraphDB Cloud save your organization the time and effort to install and manage hardware and software as well as the cost to buy it. Compared to a do-it-yourself database, DBaaS offers developers the opportunity to spend their valuable time on creating and innovating instead of administrating.

What Enterprise Users Think of the State of DBaaS Adoption Worldwide

Case in point – according to The 2016 State of DBaaS Report published by IBM and TechValidate, 680 executive and technical enterprise users said that the key benefit of choosing DBaaS was the time that the service unlocked for their developers to unleash their creative genius. According to survey respondents, a good 41% cited management time as their biggest challenge in database management before adopting DBaaS. Another 32% found data integration difficult, while changing schemas, data migration, and scaling were next down the list of issues before switching to DBaaS. A notable 88% cited scalability as the top feature they are looking for in a managed

According to survey respondents, a good 41% cited management time as their biggest challenge in database management before adopting DBaaS. Another 32% found data integration difficult while changing schemas, data migration, and scaling were next down the list of issues before switching to DBaaS. A notable 88% cited scalability as the top feature they are looking for in a managed NoSQL database.

After moving to DBaaS, about two-thirds of users reported cutting down the time it took them to work with their databases at least by half while 44% said that they had saved money on staff, hardware and overhead costs, the survey showed.

GraphDB Cloud – the Beginning

GraphDB Cloud is a result of the multimillion research and development project proDataMarket, which is co-financed by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 Research & Innovation Program. Its aim is to disrupt the property data market and to demonstrate innovation across sectors where property data is relevant.

The project proposes to do so by creating a data marketplace where organizations from the public and private sectors such as Cerved, SpazioDati, and Statsbygg can offer their data. GraphDB Cloud participates in B2B settings and serves as data hosting and payment transactional layer for the data production portal of the marketplace.

There are currently hundreds of startups and small and medium organizations that use our beta version in industries as diverse as fintech, life science and media.

Semantic information extraction is a boring name for a fascinating task: pulling out meaningful data from textual sources. With its help, text chunks become data bits, data bits become semantic metadata and semantic metadata become knowledge bytes – data pieces, ready to be leveraged for insights, decisions and actions.
